SDS Biotech K.K. is an R&D-oriented manufacturer of agricultural chemicals that does businesses mainly for the purpose of protecting useful plants and animals and controlling communicable diseases based on our research and development capability in the field of life sciences.

We will increase our corporate value by helping to protect the global environment and create an affluent society, and carry out business activities so that we can meet the expectations and trust of all the stakeholders.

SDS Biotech K.K. became an independent company when it separated from its former parent company, Showa Denko K.K., by way of a management buyout (MBO) in cooperation with the fund in March 2005. Since then, we have worked on reinforcing our management base. As a result, we were listed on the Japanese Jasdaq Securities Exchange in December 2008 and the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in December 2009. In addition, the largest stockholder of SDS Biotech K.K. changed from the fund to Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. in June 2011 when a takeover bid (TOB) was made for us. In the days and months ahead, in order to contribute towards further growth, we, as a company, intend to shake up the status quo within our industry, all the time keenly aware of our responsibilities as a publicly-traded company.

In recent years, the demand for food has tended to increase with rising populations around the world. Also, in Japan, concern about the low food self-sufficiency ratio, reinforcement of competitiveness of the agricultural industry and sixth industrialization of agriculture are becoming important issues. We will not only focus on chemical pesticide, the existing foundation of our business, but also on the development of microbial pesticides as well as natural agrochemicals. We will actively work on ensuring safe food from the perspective of crop protection.

Two important admonishments in our Company Action Guideline are "Be Close to Customers" and "Be More Creative". In order to respect these credos, we must first be open and receptive to the demands and wishes of our clients and customers; More importantly, we must be able to enthusiastically convert these insights into new products and services that display our technological innovation and competence, and then bring these items to the market. We would like to contribute to the food supply in Japan and the world through these efforts.

Our relenting advance towards an ever improving company will be the key, I believe, to enhance the company’s quality and reputation, and will help us build up our unique attractiveness and preeminence among our peers.

In short, we will endeavor to be an excellent company that exceeds expectations.
